Scaling& Polishing

It is a procedure to clean the accumulated tartar and stains between the teeth and on the lingual side of the teeth using ultrasonic vibrator. Scaling keeps your teeth clean and the gums healthy thereby preventing any gum diseases.

Scaling is usually a single sitting procedure and takes about 40 to 45 min only.

It is only a myth that scaling creates gap in the teeth. The fact is it removes the tartar which causes spaces between the teeth.

In periodontal laser therapy the provider uses a dental laser to access and remove the inflamed gum tissue from around the root of the tooth.

Paediatric Dentistry – dentistry for your child

Child friendly environment with an exclusive paediatric setup helps in prevention of anxiety in children, helping in achievement of a positive mindset regarding dental procedures. Children having habits like mouth breathing, thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, lip biting can be treated with special appliances.

Root CanalTreatment

Root canal treatment is done to repair and save badly infected or decayed tooth. It is needed when the soft tissue inside the tooth structure becomes inflamed or infected.

Once the decay erodes the first two layers of tooth, that is, enamel and dentin, infection then reaches the nerve and pulp of tooth which then causes pain. If left untreated, infection may spread beyond ends of roots of tooth. Bone loss may also occur around the tooth which may lead to pus formation or an abscess.

When Root Canal Treatment May Need?

  • If there is severe toothache upon chewing.
  • Swelling and tenderness in nearby gums of a particular tooth.
  • Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold.
  • Discoloration of a particular tooth.
  • Fractured or broken tooth.

  • Implants - the best way to replace tooth

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement and is used to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth. At SHINE DENTAL hospitals, Tooth Implant surgery is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia depending upon the case. Healing and integration of the implant(s) with jawbone occurs over three to six months after which the crowns/bridges are fabricated and attached to the implants.

Dental implant is a selective option as it takes in a lot of ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’. There has to be enough bone to do the procedure; plus the healing/recovery time is a little more as compared to other treatment options. Cost of this dental procedure is a little higher than the conventional methods. However, the results are long lasting and therefore, dental implant is definitely a far better option for the people in 40’s or above.

At SHINE DENTAL hospitals, Dental Implants are a kind of “roots” made of material called Titanium. These implants are just like actual teeth root, which are placed within the bone. These are superior and low-cost as compared to dentures because of their superior fitting and exceptional chewing and grinding properties. Working as an anchor for tooth movement, these low-cost implants are definitely a preferable option.

    Crowns & Bridges

    Dental Crowns :

Dental crown is a tooth shaped cap that is placed over tooth to restore its shape, size and function. Crowns are usually bonded to the tooth with the help of dental cement. Dental crowns are used in several cases such as

  • To protect broken tooth.
  • In case of severe discoloration of tooth.
  • To cover an implant.
  • To hold a dental bridge in place.
  • Teeth which are worn down.
  • When not much tooth structure is left or teeth with large fillings.
  • In RCT treated tooth, where the tooth is devitalized.
  • Although crowns can be given in many cases, they can’t be used in cases where entire tooth structure is destroyed. Lasers can be used to help make a patient’s crowns and bridges look even more spectacular.

Types of Dental Crowns : Metal crowns can be made up of gold, or base metal alloys which contain nickel or chromium. They can withstand biting and chewing forces well. However, the disadvantage is that colour of metal crowns does not blend with surrounding teeth and it may show while talking, laughing, etc.

Porcelain Fused to Metal : In this, a layer of porcelain is placed over the metal crown. Besides strength, its advantage is that it can be colour matched with adjacent teeth.

All Porcelain/Ceramic Crowns : These provide best natural colour match. They are therefore good for front teeth.

Dental Bridges : A dental bridge is a restoration used to replace the missing teeth with the support of adjacent natural teeth. It consists of false teeth and crowns for prepared natural teeth.

    Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are also referred as “third molars” but they often cause problem during their eruption (breaking through the gum tissue). They may only erupt partially as there is less space in the jaw. Also they may be embedded completely in the jaw bone. They exert pressure on other teeth causing pain and hence have to be extracted. Also they are difficult to clean as they are the last teeth and the tooth brush does not reach there. So if infected it is best to extract them. At SHINE DENTAL HOSPITALS, we have a team of experienced oral surgeons for such extractions.

Time Taken for the tooth extraction is as less as 1 visit.

Laser assisted wisdom tooth surgeries are less traumatic-removed in such a way through lasers that there is very little damage to adjoining bone, faster healing-due to less bone and tissue damage, almost no pain and swelling

    Teeth whitening

Any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gum or bite is known as the science of dentistry. It is strange that why we choose to live with discoloured yellow and stained teeth when it can easily be treated. Maybe, for the simple thought that it is not considered as some disease. However, discolouration, staining or yellowing of teeth is as essential as any other dental treatment. In fact, it is a preventive measure which acts as a forearm to fight future diseases.

For many teeth whitening is something that is only for celebs. However, it must be noted that white teeth also showcase healthy teeth. It is always better to smile confidently than hide your teeth by chuckling when you want laugh loud.

Laser teeth whitening-it is a highly effective way to whiten your teeth.

    Advanced gum treatment

Gums are an important part of mouth, they keep teeth in the socket and ultimately help in chewing. They are like the support system of teeth, without which teeth cannot function. And just like any other part of body they are also prone to infection. You will be surprised to know but there are more than 600 bacterial species in the mouth, all fighting to secure a place for its survival. So imagine how much hard work gums have to do in order to keep teeth secure. Nonetheless, there are various types of infections which can still occur.

The most common type is known as ‘Gingivitis’ which occurs due to deposition of a sticky whitish layer on the teeth, known as ‘plaque’ which if not cleaned properly tends to harden and calcify to form calculus. With time, when a person fails to brush properly or is unable to take care of Gingivitis, the disease advances to ‘Periodontitis’ which is also commonly known as ‘Pyrrhoea’. As food particles, bacterial dead cells deposit and keep on getting hardened, creating a barrier between teeth and gums which attach teeth to bone. As a result, teeth become loose and start moving, there is bone loss due to advanced stage of the disease and ultimately teeth fall. The first sign to look for is bleeding from gums, which can occur during brushing or biting on any hard food stuff. Other sign is swelling of gums and visible hard deposits or calculus on teeth, which are more on the lingual side of the teeth.

    Root coverage/ Recession Coverage

When the bone around the tooth is lost, the gum sags and gradually recedes exposing the roots of the teeth. This causes sensitivity. This cannot be cured by desensitising tooth paste; it has to be "covered" by stretching the gums and placing them back in their original position.

    Splinting

A procedure to stabilise shaky teeth till the bone healing occurs

    Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic treatment is needed to correct improperly positioned teeth and jaws. If the teeth are crooked there are more chances of decay and gum disease. If the jaws are not properly aligned it can cause temporomandibular joint disorders.

    Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Full mouth rehabilitation is required by patients who have a much compromised dentition. It is a process where combinations of procedures are required to correct the dental condition and restore the teeth.

The procedures include dental implants, Implant crowns or bridges, root canal treatments, porcelain crowns, veneers or bridges, extractions, implant supported dentures, gum surgeries, bite raise etc.

As full mouth rehabilitation is a combination of treatments, dental surgeons from each specialty operate on the patient to get a 100% result. For example, root canal treatment is done by an endodontist, Implants are done by implantologist, and extractions are done by oral surgeons, crowns and denture are done by prosthodontist.
